New Year means time of retrospection for a lot of us, including the Young Bakers: what have I achieved during the past months? What progress have I made? What have I learnt? What do I hope to achieve in 2016? All these common questions bring the Young Bakers a mix of anxiety and hopes for the upcoming year. “I am now capable of baking traditional French baguette, croissant, brioche and country bread from scratch with the help of our teacher, but I still need to improve. I am also currently doing my internship at a famous 5-star hotel in Shanghai, where I can discover the professional environment and learn different recipes thanks to my Chef. In 2016 I want to graduate from SYB and find a stable job in Shanghai, as a baker.” says Xiao Liu.
恰逢新年,此时青焙师们和许多人一样,开始回顾过往,展望未来——上个月我取得了什么成就?是否有所进步?我学到了哪些烘焙知识?2016年自己还有什么期望?对这一系列问题的思考让青焙师们对将要到来的一年既焦虑又期待。“跟老师从零基础学起,我现在已经会做传统法棍、羊角包、布里奥和乡村面包了,不过还要继续努力。目前我还在上海一家著名的五星级酒店实习,在专业的环境下工作,那里的师傅教给我不少制作配方。我希望2016年能够顺利从海上青焙坊学成毕业,在上海找到一份稳定的烘焙师工作。”青焙师小刘说。
At SYB, we are proud that each of the 30 students of the 7th batch have found jobs as bakers, that one of our bakery teachers, himself graduate from the program is taking part into the French Bakery World Cup representing the Chinese team in Paris, that our social enterprise has been developing and that we will be offering more sessions of intensive professional training for passionate bakers, and more!
上一届SYB项目的全部30名学员都找到了烘焙师的工作;一名曾同样来自SYB项目的老师将代表中国队,于2016年前往巴黎参加烘焙世界杯赛;我们项目的社会企业活动不断发展,如面向烘焙爱好者的专业培训课程有所增加,选择更加灵活……这些都让我们自豪!
I am personally proud of the small achievements the students make every day and moved to see the solidarity that have developed between them: 31 students coming from very different and difficult backgrounds, who didn’t know each other a few months ago, and are slowly building this family-like feeling, supporting and caring for each other, learning to communicate, a true life lesson.
不过对我而言,最欣慰的是见证学员们每天细微的进步,和日益团结的关系。本届31名学员来自不同的家庭背景,面临的困境也不尽相同。他们仅于几个月前相识,却逐渐变得亲如一家:彼此互相关心,互相帮助,学习如何与人交流。这是难得的人生经验。
During this tough period for the world, we had special thoughts for our French friends in France. Through teaching the technique of French baking in China, we try to contribute at our small level to strengthen the tighs between the Chinese and the French community, and to gather people with the same passion and values. It is for us amazing to see how French baking can unite people from different nationalities, backgrounds and experience, to share the same passion, a feeling of solidarity that has been proven more important than ever.
如今世界正处多事之秋,对于身在法国的法国朋友们,海上青焙坊有了更深刻的思索。通过在中国传授法式烘焙技巧,我们力图尽自己的微薄之力增强中法文化社区的联系,同时用一种共同的价值观与将人们凝聚起来。对我们而言,看到法式烘焙将来自不同国家,不同文化背景和社会阅历的人们联结在一起,营造出当下显得更为重要的和谐关系,让我们惊喜交加。
In 2016, we hope to continue empowering more marginalized Chinese youth with the skill of French bakery, to increase our social impact through developing cooperation with NGOs around China, to help them set up their own bakery training program, and to keep uniting more passionate bakers!
我们2016年的愿望是能够帮助更多中国贫困的年轻人学习法式烘焙技能,同时与国内其他非盈利机构合作,帮助他们建立起自己的烘焙培训项目,联合更多热爱烘焙的朋友,由此获得更大的社会影响力!
