Sweet Memory in Shanghai-Chiheng Children’s Baking Class with SYB
上海忆甜——海上青焙坊带智行基金夏令营的孩子们学烘焙
July 25th , late in the afternoon at SYB’s baking center, a special baking class of great fun has already been waiting for the 20 children from Chiheng Summer Camp!
七月二十五日傍晚,海上青焙坊烘焙中心早已准备了一堂特殊的烘焙课,迎接来自智行基金夏令营的二十位孩子!
Organized by Chiheng Foundation, the summer camp invites children from its beneficiaries list every year to step out of their hometown and spend 7 unforgettable days in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. The activities are always diversified and interesting, and this time when the children were asked about what they want to do during the trip in Shanghai, there’s no hesitation for them to answer, “baking!” And that’s how the baking class for Chiheng children came into being!
智行基金每年都会在北京、上海、广州三地举办为期七天的夏令营活动,邀请一批受助的孩子从家乡来到大城市,用一系列丰富有趣的活动为他们留下难忘的回忆。这一次,当孩子们被问到希望在上海做什么时,他们不约而同地答道:“做面包!”于是一堂为智行小营员们准备的烘焙课应运而生!
Taking both practicality and amusement into account, our two pastry teachers Xiao Jinjin and Jin Huizi, arranged a class to teach them how to make a cake on their own! The students were separated into groups from the start, and each group would collaborate to make their own cake. We could easily tell from the vivacity of the whole center that baking had really given the teens a great time!
出于实用性和娱乐性两方面的考虑,我们的西点老师肖金金和金惠子特意安排了一堂自制蛋糕课程。孩子们被分成几个小组,每组都将合作制作蛋糕。在实际操作的过程中,整个烘焙中心都洋溢着雀跃的气氛!
After putting the dough into the oven and waiting for the final products, our teachers turned to give a more detailed introduction of Shanghai Young Bakers. Knowing that we are a charity program providing a one-year training in French bakery to marginalized youth aged 17-23, these children who aged from 11 to 15 years old could optimistically see a potential future for them to become Young Bakers too! After a few questions for the teachers, they all had a much more clear idea of how SYB operates and how they could apply for it in the future.
趁把做好的面团放进烤炉烤制时,两位老师转而向小营员们进一步介绍了海上青焙坊。本次夏令营的孩子最小的只有11岁,最大的也不过15岁。当得知海上青焙坊可向17至23岁的贫困青年提供一年的免费法式烘焙培训,他们似乎看到了日后成为海上青焙坊烘焙师的希望!在对老师们进行了一系列提问后,孩子们对海上青焙坊的运营以及日后如何申请加入,都有了更清楚的了解。
Before the class started in the early afternoon, our teachers, Xiao Jinjin and Jin Huizi, who are both students from the past batches and were recommended by Chiheng foundation, spent time preparing a delicious welcome dinner for the lovely children. At the end of the day and after working hard, they all enjoyed the food and left the baking center with a new dream: to be a baker!
我们的肖金金和金会子老师都是青焙坊自己的毕业生,当初都经由智行基金的推选而得以进入项目。在正式课程开始之前,两位老师提前为孩子们准备了美味的欢迎晚餐,包括三明治和各种甜点。在忙碌的下午过后,孩子们愉快地享用了美食,并从此拥有了新的梦想——成为一名烘焙师!
