Though SYB seeks to share traditional French bakery with the Shanghai community, we also pride ourselves on the development of new recipes and baking methods. On May 9th, discover the next best thing in French baking by participating in our public baking class featuring a new recipe—French-style walnut Hokkaido bread—as well as cereal bread!
Hokkaido bread, also known as milk bread, is a sweet white bread with a unique creamy texture. It is a staple in Japanese bakery, but lately it has also gained prominence in other Asian countries.
All proceeds from public baking classes and other commercial activities are used to support the SYB program. If you are interested in learning how to bake cereal bread and the Hokkaido bread recipe developed by our very own professional trained chef, Zhang Zhenghai, join us on May 9th! Please note that not all bread will look exactly like the photos above.

Date & Time: Saturday, May 9th, 9:00 am- 4:00 pm
Location: Shanghai Young Bakers Baking Center, Shanghai, Putuo District, Suide Road
Price: 500 yuan/ person + 100 yuan/ person for an optional lunch (If over 10 people register, lunch is on us!)

北海道面包, 又称鲜奶面包,是一种带奶香和甜味的白面包,口感细腻润滑,十分独特。日式“汤种”,加过水后糊化的面团,为北海道面包带来蓬松的质地和香甜的口味。近年来它在烘焙界迅速兴起,普及亚洲各国。
