KPMG Baking Class
Two months after the KPMG lunch sharing workshop, we were more than glad to partner with this prestigious accounting firm again, on another CSR event where there was a day-long intimate contact with the mysterious yet professional French bakery world.
It is one of SYB’s initiatives to have the idea of delivering the knowledge of bakery and promoting the charity program through public baking classes to corporate employees or interested individuals. This serves as a unique team building and fun event for those who would like to learn and get a hands-on experience. On the 15th of December, we welcomed around 20 participants from KPMG, most of whom are partners or senior managers, becoming a “freshman” in this baking class. Xiao Jin Jin and Wang Li, two of our baking teachers, were in charge of the class. After the general presentation of the program, everyone put on aprons and cleaned their hands, couldn’t wait to be a chef.
To bake good bread, one needs to keep an eye on every single step of the demonstration, and carefully follow the guidance. More importantly, you may feel the slight change of every minute and listen to the whisper of a dough with your heart, as if it had a life of its own. When the bread is one from scratch through kneading, proofing and baking, one gets to know the real meaning of “the fruits of labor”.
“Baking bread is far more difficult than I had expected”, a KPMG senior manager to us smiling while she was tasting her own work – a whole baking pan of Brioche. “Now I get to realize that being a baker is such a skill-demanding job, where only day-after-day practice makes your work perfect, as all the other professional occupations”.
At the end of the class, Melinda Gao, CSR manager of KPMG, donated five laptops to SYB. With these laptops, the teachers will be able to prepare trainings schedules and relevant teaching materials more conveniently and efficiently. We thank again for KPMG’s generous donation, and look forward to more collaboration in near future.
