From students to trainees: the Young Bakers ready for their internships!
从学生到实习生:海上青焙坊的学员们为实习准备就绪!
For the Young Bakers, autumn means start of the internship! After a month and a half of intensive training in French bakery and pastry where the students got to discover the world of baking, it is now time for them to apply what they have learnt in the professional environment of 5 star-hotels!
对于海上青焙坊的年轻学员们来说,秋天意味着实习的开始!在一个半月的法式面包西点的紧张培训后,学生们能够有机会探索烘焙的世界;如今,他们终于有机会在5星级酒店学以致用!
The SYB training is indeed organized according to the tried and tested “alternance” model, meaning that every month from mid-October to the end of July the Young Bakers alternate between 2 weeks of classes and 2 weeks of internships. As all the students come from underprivileged backgrounds and are totally new to the hotel environment, one of our main goals in October is to make sure that they are well prepared for the start of these internships. This is why, together with Marriott Changfeng hotel’s team, we organized a visit of their bakery and pastry departments. As the future bakers were very impressed, a lot of questions started to form in their minds and, luckily, they had the chance to meet with Pastry Chef Alex from the Pullman South, who was able to provide them with all the answers! We also called our graduates to join us for a fun “SYB family get-together” during which the students could ask everything that was on their mind and relieve part of their worries before the big day!
海上青焙坊的培训严格遵循了“半工半读”这一经过尝试并验证的模式,也就是说,自10月中旬起至次年7月底,海上青焙坊的学员将2周课程学习2周酒店实习的次序轮换。由于我们所有的学生都出身贫寒并对于酒店环境相当陌生,因此,在10月,我们主要目的之一便是确保他们已经对自己的实习做好了完全的准备。这也是我们协同上海新发展亚太万豪酒店,组织学生们实地观摩了他们面包与西点烘焙场所,并给我们未来的烘焙师们留下了深刻的印象。一个个问题不断的充斥在他们的脑海中,与此同时,他们能够幸运地见到了来自上海中星铂尔曼大酒店西点主厨 Alex为他们答疑解惑,我们同样邀请了我们的毕业生来参加我们的“海上青焙坊家庭团聚日”,让我们的学生能够有更多的机会提问,并且在这重要的一天来临之际能够缓解他们的焦虑。
This year, our 32 students will have the honor to work in our 15 partner luxury hotels. We are very grateful for our partner’s support, and for offering the Young Bakers the opportunity practice their new skills in such a top-notch environment!
