Pastry Chef Alex Xue gives advice to the SYB students before the start of their internship
On a Saturday afternoon, and a few days before the start of their internship, the SYB students welcomed Pastry Chef Alex, from Pullman South hotel, to share his experience and advice about working in a hotel.
“ What is the most important thing as a chef ?”, Alex asked.
“Hygiene!” the students answered.
Indeed, we never get enough reminders about how important hygiene is and Alex kindly gave some explanation, showing for example how to wash hands perfectly. Along with the hygiene and food safety, personal safety at work is just as important. Alex finished his talk by explaining the general rules and regulations of a hotel such as how to interact with the guests in a good manner.
With an experience of over 18 years working in pastry and bakery, Alex was able to answer the students’ questions and worries, as we could feel both anxiety and excitement about their upcoming internship. The students were happy to learn more about what to expect and got even more excited to discover this new environment by themselves!

西点主厨Alex在SYB学员开始实习之际给予的忠谏
周六下午,在海上青焙坊的学生们开始实习前几天,学生们迎来了西点主厨薛琦与大家共享他在酒店的工作经历,并且给予一些忠告和建议。
“对于一名厨师而言,什么是最重要的?”,薛琦问道。
“卫生!”学生们异口同声的回答。
确实,我们未曾给予卫生安全以足够的重视。因而, 薛琦给予耐心的讲解,并且示范了如何彻底的清洁双手。除了食品卫生安全外,工作中的个人卫生问题同样重要。薛琦向大家介绍了酒店的纪律,同时示范了如何通过得体的行为来与周围的人相处,并以此结束了他的讲座。
拥有在西点与烘焙行业长达18年的工作经验,薛琦能够很好的解答所有学生们的疑虑。我们能够感受到学生们对于即将到来的实习抱有紧张又期待的复杂情绪。他们希望能够对于日后的实习了解更多,他们更愿意通过自己的努力去发现新的环境!
