Family reunion: SYB celebrates Mid-autumn festival together
Mid-autumn Festival is a special day for all the Chinese people. It is an occasion for reunions among friends and relatives to eat mooncakes and watch the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity. On September 19th 2013, SYB gathered its graduates and 29 current students, along with teachers and staff to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival.
The celebration was hosted by Teacher Xiao. The current students prepared singing and cross talk as the performance. Some of the students who are shy in daily life also signed up for performing, which surprised our social educator a lot, “I am so excited and moved by their bravery and progress”, said Zheng Xiaoying, the social educator. In the end, 2 students were honored with the first prize, 2 for second prizes and 3 for third prizes. They won mooncakes and stationery as gifts.
In return, graduates were selected to answer current students’ questions regarding their internships and future career plans. Some students asked the difficulties they might meet during the internships, some wondered whether their fellow had ever thought about giving up, and some were curious about their salaries after graduation. Every fellow answered these questions patiently.
The party ended with a shared dinner, with students’ homemade pizzas and breads. Teacher Wang made a bulky ice-cream cake to celebrate the birthday of our graduate and current students. They blew the candles and made wishes.
Thousands of years ago, a Chinese poet wrote: “Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.” For most of the 6th batch of students, it was their first time to celebrate the Mid-autumn festival without their families’ company. However, SYB is always the harbour awaiting them to give them the warmth of a family.

家庭大团圆：海上青焙坊大家庭共同庆祝中秋佳节
中秋节对于所有中国人来说是一个特殊的节日。在这一天，朋友们和亲戚们会聚集在一起，一起品尝月饼、欣赏圆月——这是和谐与团圆的象征。2013年9月19日，海上青焙坊的往届毕业生、29名在校生和海上青焙坊的老师、职员一起，庆祝这个传统的中国节日。
庆祝晚会由肖老师主持。在校生们准备了唱歌和相声作为节目。一些平日里非常害羞的学生也报名表演了节目，这让我们的生活老师十分惊讶：“看到他们的勇气和进步，我真的很感动、很兴奋。”最后，2名学生获得了一等奖，还有2名学生获得了二等奖、3名学生获得了三等奖。他们拿到了月饼、学习用品等奖品。
作为回报，毕业生们需要回答在校生的问题，这些问题大多与实习和未来的职业发展有关。有些学生问到了他们在实习中可能遇到的困难，有些学生很好奇他们的学长学姐是否曾经想过放弃，还有一些学生问到了毕业之后的薪资水平。每一位学长学姐都耐心地回答了问题。
聚会在共同品尝学生们自制的披萨和面包中结束。王老师做了一个巨大的冰淇淋蛋糕，为我们的毕业生和在校生庆祝生日。他们吹灭了蜡烛，并许下了愿望。
几千年前，中国诗人苏轼写过：“但愿人长久，千里共婵娟。”对于大多数的第六届学生来说，这是他们第一次远离家人、度过中秋节。但是，海上青焙坊对于他们来说，将永远是一个等待着他们的港湾，给予他们家庭的温暖。
