2016 Career Fair: New beginning for 8th batch SYB graduates
2016年现场招聘会:第八届海上青焙坊毕业生的人生新起点
“My name is ____. I am 19 years old. I love baking.”
Standing in the spotlight, the 8th batch of Shanghai Young Bakers (SYB) graduates took turns to introduce themselves in English and express their love for baking at the Graduation Ceremony. They will all want for that love to go on and grow when July ends and they leave SYB. Yep, that means they will need to first of all find a job! That’s where the Career Fair comes into play.
Held right before the Graduation Ceremony, this year’s SYB Career Fair drew 7 drastically different companies from the Food & Beverage industry:
“My name is ____. I am 19 years old. I love baking.”(我叫____. 我今年19岁。我爱烘焙。)
站在聚光灯焦点之下,海上青焙坊(SYB)第八届毕业生在毕业典礼上轮流用英语介绍了自己,表达了对烘焙的热爱。当8月份到来、要离开SYB的时候,毕业生们一定会希望这份爱能够延续和增长——没错,这就意味着他们得先找到一份工作!一年一度的海上青焙坊招聘会正是为此而设。
今年的招聘会于毕业典礼同天的下午成功举办,吸引了7家各不相同的餐饮企业:
The Career Fair officially begun as Ms. Sissi Wu introduced to the Young Bakers Village 127, a social enterprise café founded by Chi Heng Foundation (CHF). 127 was the number of the first batch of underprivileged students that CHF sponsored. With 4th batch SYB graduate Hongtao Chen working as the head of bakery and pastry, Village 127 hopes to create job opportunities in the baking industry, support CHF’s charity programs, and promote healthy lifestyle and the social enterprise model.
首先,智行基金会的吴茜女士向大家介绍了Village 127, 这是智行旗下的一家社会企业咖啡馆,取名于智行所资助的第一届共127名农村学生。与面包西点主管、SYB第四届毕业生陈洪涛一起,Village 127希望提供烘焙就业平台,支持智行基金会的慈善项目,以及推广健康生活方式和社会企业模式。
Flying all the way from Beijing were representatives from the Orange Hotel Group. They were hiring for their soon-to-open high end Vue Hotel, which will include the Pink Rabbit restaurant and the FAB café bakery. For Spanish Chefs Gonzalo and Ignasi, it is important that their recruits not only have a solid foundation in baking skills but also can adapt quickly to an international working environment. A wonderful opportunity for SYB graduates who hope to work in northern China!
从北京远道而来的是桔子酒店集团的代表,为旗下即将开业的高端酒店Vue Hotel以及粉兔餐厅、FAB咖啡烘焙房物色人才。对西班牙大厨Gonzalo和Ignasi来说,非常重要的是他们的新成员不仅需要有过硬的烘焙技术基础,还要能够快速适应国际化的工作环境。Vue Hotel对于想要在中国北方发展的毕业生来说是非常棒的机会!
Like in past years, once again we had the honor to feature Lesaffre, a generous sponsor of Shanghai Young Bakers, at the Career Fair. A young and energetic HR team narrated Lesaffre’s 160+ years of history and tradition, and introduced their career opportunities. Compared to others, junior bakers’ work at the world’s leading yeast manufacturer is more research & development oriented. As a nice little surprise at the end, two SYB alumni, Remi He and Joe Li shared their stories about working at Lesaffre.
和往年一样,我们又一次荣幸地邀请到乐斯福集团——海上青焙坊慷慨的赞助商——来参加招聘会。一支年轻而充满活力的人力资源团队展示了乐斯福160多年的历史和传统、工作机会。与其它餐饮企业相比,烘焙师在这家世界领先的酵母生产商的工作更加偏向研发。小惊喜:SYB校友何基笑、李志强与今年的毕业生们分享了他们在乐斯福工作的经历!
We were also delighted to see another familiar face: Ms. Stephanie Feng, founder of Barney’s Bakery, who participated in the Career Fair last year and recruited three SYB graduates. Students were intrigued as Stephanie told the story of Barney the bear, how the idea of a community bakery was born on a world cruise, and how dreams turned into reality in the town of Anting when Barney’s Bakery started to bond tightly with different organizations and populations near Tong Ji University.
看到另一张熟悉的面孔同样让我们欣喜:巴尼烘焙坊的创始人冯佳艺(Stephanie)小姐去年也参加了SYB招聘会,并成功雇用三名毕业生!Stephanie分享了巴尼小熊的故事,讲述了“社区烘焙坊”的概念如何在一艘环球游艇上诞生,以及她的梦想如何在嘉定区安亭镇安了家、在和同济大学周边社区的各种跨界合作中一步步实现。毕业生们听得很入迷。
The Shanghai Bakery is a European style bakery dedicated to bringing its customers natural, healthy, handmade baked goods. Born and raised in a baker family, Ox, the owner, described himself and his staff as food nerds. At the core of their work is a true passion for baking, which breeds curiosity, which in turn leads to never-ending research and innovation. The Young Bakers were very much impressed by Ox’s innovative ideas as well as the delicious sample breads he brought with!
The Shanghai Bakery是一家欧式面包房,致力于为顾客带来天然健康的手工烘焙产品。成长于一个烘焙之家,店主Ox形容他自己和他的员工为“食呆子”。他们工作的核心是真正的对烘焙的热情,热情孕育了好奇心,跟着引发永不停息的探索和创新。Ox的创意想法和带到现场的面包样品给青年烘焙师们留下了很深的印象。
The Career Fair continued to unfold its diversity of participating companies. Next we had Mr. Charles Zeng, hiring bakers for homemade burger buns and desserts for his increasingly popular Charlie’s Burger, Tap & Shake. Charles shared his story of starting up the business and his attitudes towards food. He emphasized to the Young Bakers he would love for his employees to be willing to accept challenges in work, which would also bring new opportunities. In his words,“We’re hiring superheroes.”
招聘会继续展现出参会公司的多元化:接下来是Charles Zeng先生,为近来很火的Charlie’s美式汉堡店招聘烘焙师,负责汉堡面包和甜点的制作。Charles分享了他的创业故事和对食物的态度。他向SYB毕业生们强调,他希望来Charlie’s的员工是愿意接受挑战(而挑战也会带来新的机遇)、在工作中不断突破自我的。用Charles的说法是:“我们在招超级英雄。”
Last but not least, we were happy to welcome Pantry’s Best, an SYB Employment Partner of 2012-2013, back to the Career Fair. A successful and growing chain company today, Pantry’s Best originated from a simple yet sincere wish – to deliver happiness, which is the meaning of the brand’s Chinese name, as Ms. Jingnan He explained. Their beautiful cupcakes and creative products in collaboration with various brands are definitely an attraction for the Young Bakers that wish to work in pastry.
最后,我们很高兴欢迎2012-2013年度的海上青焙坊就业合作伙伴——派悦坊重返SYB招聘会。人力资源部的何靓楠小姐告诉我们,如今发展迅速的连锁甜品店派悦坊源起于一个简单而真诚的愿望:派送惊喜,这也是其中文品牌名的含义。派悦坊精美的纸杯蛋糕、跨界合作的创意产品,对那些想成为蛋糕师的毕业生来说绝对超有吸引力!
Following company presentations, the information & interview session begun. After some initial shyness and hesitation, the 8th batch of SYB graduates marched to their potential employers in small groups and introduced themselves. Representatives from each company got to learn more about their professional skills and personal qualities, before Young Bakers asked specific questions regarding the positions. For example, what kind of products they would be expected to make and what one’s career development would look like in the long run.
As the Career Fair came to its end, all students developed a clearer idea of what they would do after SYB.
招聘方公司依次展示后是面试和自由交谈时间。经历了开始的一些害羞和犹豫之后,第八届海上青焙坊毕业生结伴或是独自走向心仪公司的展台,向可能的未来雇主介绍了自己。各公司代表得以更多地了解毕业生们的专业技能和个人特质,毕业生也就工作岗位问了他们最关注的问题,比方说,他们可能会被要求做什么样的产品,长期职业发展的前景如何等。
随着招聘会逐渐深入,所有学员都对毕业后的人生有了更明确的想法。
