SYB 5th batch: GO GOGO !
On August 26th, the 5th batch of students was officially welcomed in the SYB family!
After a shared lunch, the 22 new students headed to the SYB classroom in Caoyangschool, led by the new social educator, Quanlaoshi. There we presented the program more in details, and in particular their class and internship schedule. We were lucky to have five of our graduates come to meet the students and tell them what they’re doing after SYB. Their main advice to the young bakers: work hard, and listen to your chef!
Compassion for Migrant Children, one of our partner NGOs, then introduced the life skills program that they will be teaching and organized ice-breaking games so that the students get to know each other better. It’s tough indeed to remember so many new names and hometowns!
This fun part was followed by a more serious one, where the students read one by one the rules that will ensure that their year spent together goes smoothly. The young bakers then chose French names, so that they can use them during their internships if they are supervised by a foreign chef. After a group picture, we ended the day as we started, by shouting “SYB GO GOGO”!
As SYB new program manager, I have to say that this 5th batch of students has left me an excellent impression so far: these young Chinese all have had to face a lot of hardships, and for most of them it was their first time ever to leave their hometown. I was thus expecting them to be a bit lost, and shy in front of strangers. On the opposite I have found them outgoing, extremely polite and with a constant smile on their face! Let’s hope that these smiles will get even bigger during their year at SYB!

SYB第五批学生：加油！
在8月26日，海上青焙坊的第五批学生终于正式加入了SYB的大家庭！
在一起吃过午饭后，新入职的生活老师全老师带领着22位新同学来到了曹杨职业技术学校的教室，在这里，我们向学生们介绍了SYB更多的细节信息，特别介绍了他们的课程和实习安排。我们的合作NGO打工子弟爱心会向学生们介绍了他们将要学习的生活技能课程，接着，打工子弟爱心会还组织了破冰游戏来帮助学生们更多的了解对方。要记得所有人的名字的家乡果真不简单！
在这些有趣的部分之前，有一些严肃的活动，比如学生们逐条阅读规则，保证他们在这一年能够过得顺利，他们还给自己挑选了法文名字，在实习中如果有外国主厨对他们进行指导，有个外文名是比较方便的， 在大合影之后，我们就要结束这一天了，就和刚开始时一样，我们大声喊着我们的口号：“SYB GOGOGO！”
作为SYB新一任的项目主管，我必须说第五批学生给我留下了非常好的印象：这样中国青少年们曾经面对了很多苦难，对于大部分的人来说，这是他们第一次远离家乡。我曾经以为他们可能会有些迷茫在陌生人面前有些拘束，但是相反的，我发现大部分人都能敞开心扉，非常有礼貌并且脸上时常挂着笑容！让我们希望这些笑容在未来在SYB的一年能越来越开怀吧！
