Grasping food safety knowledge and following standard workplace hygiene practices is a must for everybody working in the F&B industry. To instill a high standard of food safety and kitchen hygiene in our students from the very beginning, during the second week of classes, we are honored to invite Silliker, a company specializing in food hygiene inspection to provide a detailed and comprehensive training seminar for the students. This is also the 6th year Silliker has been providing specialized training seminars for SYB.
This year’s training is conducted by Ms. Gu from Silliker. Knowledge about personal hygiene, food procurement, and receipt, storage, washing, preparation, processing, and sterilization, etc… were passed on to the students, forming the foundation for their future work as bakers.
Lessons were taught in an interesting and engaging manner, with various segments like live demonstrations, “find the problem” mini-games, quizzes and discussion inserted to keep the students engaged.
Within the 2 hours of training, the students participated actively with passion, questions, and discussions, all while learning the fundamentals of food safety and hygiene practices.
