There is a French saying « l’habit ne fait pas le moine » which translate as « Clothes do not make the man (or the monk) » but some serious research actually shows that it does help. Wearing a nice looking, clean and customized uniform with your name embroidered on it certainly helps make the 32 young SYB students feel more the part.
Creastyle, a Shanghai based Fashion Design Agency, has very generously provided Shanghai Young Bakers with 2 full sets of customized uniforms for our 32 young bakers. Our 10th batch of young bakers received their uniforms on 6 November.
These uniforms are indispensable to our students, protecting them from possible harm in the kitchen while looking good! Because they all wear the same uniform it is easier for them to feel part of the same Shanghai Young Bakers team/family and promotes a feeling of equality. Team spirit instils mutual growth and encourages caring for yourself as well as for your colleagues and peers.
These uniforms also give them a sense of responsibility and pride as they need to keep their uniforms clean, baking can be a dirty business! Having 2 sets makes this task much easier.
The wearing of the bakers’ uniforms marks a turning point in the life of the student as a symbol of the beginning of a new professional life.
Every one of our 32 students are very grateful to CreaStyle Design for supplying Shanghai Young Bakers with their very smart uniforms and helping them along their paths towards a full professional life.
