Exactly 10 years ago, SYB was officially launched!!! A group of 12 French volunteers had been tirelessly working for several months then, brainstorming about the model, contacting NGOs, setting up partnerships, raising the funds…. And on the 7th February 2009, it was with great pride and excitement that they welcomed SYB’s very first batch of students!!
SYB received the 16 fresh new students with an impressive launch ceremony organised at the Sofitel Hyland, and headed by the then French Consul General Mr Thierry Mathou. Corporate and institutional partners gathered to give their best wishes to the young adults who were embarking on a journey of a lifetime. Alternating between internships and practical and theory classes, the students would learn valuable baking skills that would enable them to find stable employment and lift themselves out of poverty.

This was exactly ten years ago today…. As they say, the rest is history!
