In the Bloom of Youth —— SYB and Fudan University Welfare Development Center’s Second Gathering

On December 10, 2017, after almost 3 weeks of preparation and planning, the 10th class of SYB students and the Welfare Development Center held their much-anticipated gathering.  This year’s event was held at Fudan University’s beautiful Jiangwan campus. It seems that each time we hold this event, the sky smiles upon us with its favor.  Of all the gloomy days in early December, we had the absolute best weather! This activity was planned by SYB students and three management personnel from the Welfare Development Center. It was the first time the new members of Welfare Development Center participated in the organization and management of a large-scale activity.  It was a great way for them to learn how to take on responsibility.

On event day, Welfare Development Center members arrived bright and early at the Jiangwan campus to prepare for the day’s activities.   At one o’clock sharp, SYB students gathered on the playing field.  Like old friends who haven’t seen each other for a long time, they all hugged each other warmly, making the atmosphere feel warmer than the sunshine!  Promptly at 1:10, the leaders made their announcements and the activities began.  Then, almost suddenly, the field became a strange and unusual place. If you’re wondering why, please keep reading.

(1)  Our warm-up activity ‘Chasing Game’ was a great icebreaker – everybody loved it.
(2)  A foot massage mat that really hurts – wow that felt good!
(3)  A classic game of ‘draw and guess’ was a real hit.
(4)  ‘Eight Immortals Cross the Sea’ relay race – a test of speed and skill.
(5)  In ‘Trample the Balloon’, the day’s roughest and toughest game, the Welfare Development Center Deputy Leader gave everyone a good look at his dramatic facial expressions and took first prize.
(6)  In the chain song game, many talented singers and amateur songwriters showed us their hidden talents.
(7)  The game ‘One and a Half Yuan’ tested reaction speed and ‘no fear’ of embarrassment.
After the fun and games concluded, we sat on the ground eating spicy noodles and chatting.
Of course, there were beautiful gifts for all.
To wrap up a great day, we took a group photo at the front gate of the Jiangwan campus.  And to reward today’s MVP – the Center’s Deputy Leader –  we engaged in some good-natured ribbing and practical joking.
As the sun set, exhausted yet happy, we walked towards the metro station.
