Our 10th batch received their arrival kits !

Every year, SYB welcomes its incoming batch of students with individual ‘arrival kits’. These kits include a variety of products, such as toiletries and beddings, which students can use upon their arrival in Shanghai. Because students come from underprivileged backgrounds, we offer them these kits in order for them to settle comfortably without having to worry about buying their essentials.

We are grateful to receive donations from partners, who help us put these kits together. The Grand Mercure Hongqiao hotel, which is one of SYB’s essential partners, provided us with a range of toiletries, such as tooth brushes and combs, for each student. Our partner NGO, A Pleine Mains, which collects unwanted items to be redistributed amongst charities across China, gave our students schoolbags and a variety of beddings. Finally, SC Johnson, who is one of SYB’s financial and in-kind donors, offered us a range of cleaning and laundry products, which students will use at our baking center and in their dormitories. We would like to thank our partners very much for their generous donations and longstanding support for our program.

All the other arrival kits’ items, which were not donated, were purchased by SYB. Thus, SYB is always seeking new sponsors, who can help its organization fund these sorts of expenses. Donations, whether they be financial or in-kind, are always welcomed to enable us to offer our students the best possible training and confortable living conditions. This is a great way for corporations to bolster their Corporate Social Responsibility and assist the local community!

We wish our new batch of students start for this year, and look forward to watching them become qualified professional bakers and pastry makers!
