Baking activity with Youdao Fondation and Nexans
与忧道基金会及耐克森共同举行烘焙活动
Right before Christmas, we held a very special activity with You Dao Foundation. You Dao Foundation works actively on improving the lives of migrant workers and their families in Shanghai.
On this day, Migrant children who benefitted from You Dao’s after-school activities came to SYB’s Baking Centre with their mothers. Together, they would be participating in a family bonding activity: Cupcakes and Speculoos class.
临近圣诞，海上青焙坊与忧道基金会共同举办了一场特别的烘焙活动。忧道基金会致力于改善上海外来人员及其家人的生活状况。
当天，接受忧道基金会帮助的孩子们与他们的妈妈们一同到海上青焙坊烘焙中心参加了一次特殊的“课外活动”。在此期间，他们一同上烘焙课程，学习制作纸杯蛋糕与焦糖饼干，以此来增进家人之间的交流与理解。
When conversing with Sonja, You Dao’s coordinator, I realized that such enrichment activities were much of a luxury for these children as their parents could not afford the time and the money to bring their children to such baking classes. I had learnt, in fact more children from the after school care really wanted to come but were unable to make it as their parents had to work on the day of the activity.
在与忧道基金会的协调负责人Sonja交流的同时，我意识到，这种丰富多彩的活动对于这些孩子以及他们的父母来说都是一种奢侈品，他们无法负担这样的时间和金钱带他们的孩子一起体验烘焙课程。我也了解到，事实上有更多接受忧道帮助的孩子们因为当天父母需要工作而无法前来参加。
This activity could only be possible as it was funded by Nexans. Employees from Nexans brought along their family and participated in this fun filled family-bonding session together with the Migrant families. It was a really adorable sight: children making pastries and decorating their cupcakes and cookies. For some, it was their first time baking. Most adults who come into the baking centre for the first time might feel a little apprehensive or flustered, but for the children, all they cared about was having fun with their cupcakes and cookies! Seeing how the different children helped each other out and shared the fondant decoration was really heart-warming for me. Everyone in the baking centre had definitely felt the warm Christmas spirit of giving and sharing!
这次活动的成功举行需要感谢耐克森的鼎力支持。耐克森的员工也带来了他们的孩子，与外来务工家庭的孩子们一同参加了此次有趣的家庭烘焙活动。看到孩子们共同制作点心并装饰纸杯蛋糕与曲奇，这种景象让人感到一阵暖意。对于他们中的一些人来说，这是他们第一次尝试烘焙。大多数参与者第一次来到烘焙中心的时候，总会觉得有些紧张不安。但是对于这些孩子来说，他们没有胆怯与畏惧，只是想要好好享受欢乐的时光。看到来自不同背景的孩子们能够互相帮助，分享他们的翻糖装饰，我十分受到触动。相信烘焙中心的每一个人都能在这圣诞之际体会到奉献以及分享的喜悦。
