Class of 2019
32 new students (15 girls and 17 boys) coming from 8 different provinces arrived in Shanghai to become bakers! They were recommended by 5 partner NGOs: Chiheng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Plan International, Care for Children, Couleurs de Chine. The 11th batch will graduate at the end of July 2019.
Class of 2018
32 new students (10 girls and 22 boys) coming from 4 different provinces arrived in Shanghai to become bakers! They were recommended by 7 partner NGOs: Chiheng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing Aid for Street Kids, Plan International, Gender Development Solutions, Shanghai Jiuqian Volunteer Center and You Dao Foundation. The 10th batch will graduate at the end of July 2018.
Class of 2017
32 new students (16 girls and 16 boys) coming from 6 different provinces arrived in Shanghai to become bakers! They were recommended by 8 partner NGOs: Chiheng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing Aid for Street Kids, Plan International, Care for Children, Morning Tears, Henan Polaris and Gender Development Solutions. The 9th batch will graduate at the end of July 2017.
Class of 2016
This year again it is with great excitement that we have welcomed 31 students (14 boys and 17 girls) from 8 different provinces ! They were recommended by 8 partner NGOs : Chiheng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing Aid for Street Kids, Plan International, Care for Children, One-School, Caritas Shanghai and Loveqtra. The 8th batch will graduate at the end of July 2016.
Class of 2015
This year we have reached the maximum capacity by welcoming 32 students (15 boys and 17 girls) from 8 different provinces ! They were recommended by 8 partner NGOs : Chiheng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing Aid for Street Kids, Plan International, Morning Tears, Care for Children, Jiu Qian and Changning Minfu Center for Rural Sustainable Development. The 7th batch should graduate at the end of July 2015.
Class of 2014
15 boys and 15 girls coming from 7 provinces and recommended by 7 partner NGOs (Chiheng Foundation, Baoji Xinxing, Children of Madaifu, Care for Children, Plan International, ETTI and Morning Tears). They have successfully graduated in July 2014.
Class of 2013
22 (13 girls& 9 boys) students recommended by our 6 partner associations (Chi Heng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing, SOS China, Jiuqian and Eden Ministry) joined SYB in late August 2012. They are expected to graduate in July 2013.
Class of 2012
Out of 40 applications sent by 6 partner associations (Chi Heng Foundation, Children of Madaifu, Baoji Xinxing, SOS China, Jiuqian and Braille Without Borders), 21 students were finally selected to join the 4th enrolment of SYB students in late August 2011.
Class of 2011
In September 2010, 8 girls and 10 boys recommended by Chi Heng Foundation, Half the Sky Foundation and Children of Madaifu arrived in Shanghai to start the 3rd class of SYB. Within a few weeks of graduating, 16 of them had found work as a baker, either in Shanghai or in their hometown, while the remaining two were evaluating their options in cities near home.
Class of 2010
19 new students (9 girls & 10 boys), recommended by Chi Heng Foundation, Half the Sky Foundation and Children of Madaifu association, were recruited as part of the 2nd wave in September 2009. In addition, 7 students from the pilot program decided to stay on to benefit from the new one-year long format, putting the total number of the students for that year at 26.
Class of 2009
In Feb 2009, SYB welcomed 16 students for its 6-month long pilot programme. 8 were recommended by Chi Heng Foundation, 7 by Shanghai Children’s Home, and 1 by the Children of Madaifu association. There were 6 girls and 10 boys, leading the way for a fabulous adventure. Little did they know that three of them would later further their studies in France.
