River Of Heart’s sorting party: second-hand clothes under the spotlight

River of Hearts (ROH) is a charity which gives people in need second-hand donated things (clothes, shoes, toys, beddings, etc.) in good condition. During their famous sorting parties, ROH volunteers sort out and bag all the donations according to gender, season and age. The bags are then sent to rural areas for people in need.

On Saturday 19th October 2013, while one half of the apprentice bakers were doing their internships in the hotels, the other half took part in ROH’s autumn sorting party, held at YCIS Gubei campus. The students were welcomed by tons and tons of second-hand donated clothes, scattered all around them and waiting to be sorted out. The students buckled down to work without hesitation, along with many ROH volunteers.

When lunch break arrived, ROH coordinator Daniel made an announcement about Shanghai Young Bakers’ attendance to the event and afterwards, everyone enjoyed the baguettes and deserts brought by SYB! At the end of the party, the lucky students had the chance to take home one article amongst the donated clothes.

Participating in this meaningful event was a lot of fun for the students. Not only were they happy to give a hand to the NGO by sorting the clothes out, but also to give back to society by helping the disadvantaged.

衣物分类派对：聚光灯下的二手衣物

River of Hearts是为有需要的人提供优质的二手物品（衣服、鞋子、玩具、床上用品等）的公益组织。在他们著名的衣物分类派对上，ROH的志愿者们按照性别、季节和年龄分类并打包了所有的捐赠物品。这些物品将被送往中国的乡村，给那些有需要的人。

2013年10月19日星期六，当另一群烘焙师们还在酒店实习时，剩下的一半学生在上海耀中国际学校古北校区参加了ROH组织的秋季衣物分类派对。学生们面对着身边好几吨的二手衣物，准备将它们分类。学生们毫不犹豫地与ROH的其他志愿者们一起埋头苦干。

午休时，ROH的协调人Daniel宣传了海上青焙坊对于这次活动的参与过程，之后，所有人都品尝了我们准备的法棍和甜点！派对结束后，学生还获得了挑选一件衣服带回家的机会。

学生们都觉得参加这次有意义的活动非常开心。不仅仅是因为他们可以通过为衣物分类而帮助其他的NGO，也是因为他们可以通过帮助弱势群体来回报社会。
