Give an orphan some bread, you feed him for one day; teach him how to bake, you feed him for a lifetime!(授人以麦，三餐之需；授人以焙，终生之用！)
这是一个由12位法国志愿者在上海发起的公益项目，为中国贫困青年（17至23岁）提供免费法式烘焙培训，获得职业证书以及在4、5星级宾馆的实习机会，帮助他们在毕业后顺利就业，自力更生。预计到今年7月，将有4批学生，共计百余名从SYB毕业。他们有的去了华尔道夫酒店任职，有的去了半岛……没错，就是这些名气响当当的星级酒店，每一个人都有机会加入其中。
法国美女Floriane如今是该项目的主管，接替12位发起人打理这个项目，在这个岗位上她已经干了一年半，她表示会做满两年再考虑转行，依然会在慈善的大范围中找寻自己的位置。加入SYB之前，她是一名研究欧亚文化的学生，完成了法国的学业后，在中国人民大学和北京大学又进行了2年的学习。从未预料自己会涉足慈善领域，直到来到上海，直到遇到SYB，从一名实习生开始，Floriane的首份职业成为了公益项目的主管。“这是一个很棒的项目，对我人生的意义很大，我乐在其中。”
法式烘焙是个时尚的概念，让贫困青年来繁华城市做一件时尚的事情，靠谱吗？Floriane觉得完全靠谱，“很多贫困青年此前在西部许多工厂做工，他们一辈子可能只会做流水线上的一件事情，但来学习烘焙之后，他们学会了西点的每一个步骤，开阔了视野，了解了更多，这是他们给我们最多的反馈。我们的毕业生很抢手，他们中的部分还可以通过在酒店工作挣来的薪水支付他们未完成的高中或是大学学业费用，这让我们感到很欣慰，通过自己的努力改变了人生。”
Q&A：
问：基金会运作过程中最困难的事情/时刻是什么？如何度过？
答：我们的赞助商真的很给力。但资金的问题仍然会是项目的一个未知数，因为谁都不能保证赞助会每年都持续，但这个项目一定会一直做下去。
问：想对白领说的话？

Started by 12 French volunteers and based in Shanghai, Shanghai Young Bakers provides a fully-sponsored French bakery training to disadvantaged Chinese youth aged 17-23, so that they could acquire professional certificate and find intern at four or five star hotels later, thus enabling them to find qualified jobs and lead independent lives after graduation. By July of this year, more than 100 students from 4 batches will graduate. Some of the graduates went to Waldorf, some the Peninsula. Don’t be surprised; graduates from SYB are good enough to join any prestigious hotels.
The French beauty Floriane takes over this program from 12 founders and has been is this position for one and a half years. She intends to serve half a year before joining other philanthropy projects. Floriane was a student majoring in European and Asian culture study and has studied in Renmin University and Peking University for two years before she came to SYB. She never thought she would involve in philanthropy until she came to Shanghai and happen to know SYB. It’s her first job and she works from an intern to the manager. As she said, SYB is a great project that has great influence on her and she enjoys being part of it.
French bakery is a fashionable concept, so is it reliable to let those disadvantaged youth come to bustling city to learn it? The answer is absolutely yes from Floriane, “Many underprivileged youth worked in factories in the Western region of China and may end up the whole life doing the same thing in the assembly line. However, if they come to learn French baking, they got to know every step of making bread, which could broaden their vision and enrich their knowledge. That is the most frequent feedback they give me. Our graduates are very popular among hotels and bakeries. Some of them could even cover their unfinished education by earning money from their work. We are more than thrilled to see that happen. They have changed their lives by their own effort.
Q&A
Q: What is the toughest thing you have met? How did you get over it?
A: Though our sponsors are really awesome, we still worry about ourfunding. It is an uncertain factor. No one can guarantee that we will be sponsored every year; however, we know for sure that the project will be continued under whatever condition.
Q: What would you like to say to white collars?
A: If you love French baking, you are perfectly welcomed! By attending our baking classes, ordering a cake for your birthday party or teambuilding with us, not only will you enjoin yourselves, but also our students will benefit from what you’ve done.
Shanghai Young Baker has established a strict and transparent system to enroll those who most need help. Only 20 to 30 students are admitted every year. With three bakery trainers who have gained the skills certificate (CAP) of the French Top Baking School (EFBPA), the training is professional enough by following the strict French standard.
